Relaxing in the woods. Beautiful location, could enjoy my music, and the horses also kept us company in the mornings.

Exactly what you need to wind down and rejuvenate your soul. When it's sunny you can swim, swing or go for a walk, and when it's cloudy and rainy you can relax in front of the fireplace. Amazing!

The most sublime weekend I've ever experienced. Blessed silence. A thesaurus would struggle to conjure the words needed to describe our stay at Die Berghuis. There have been reviews mentioning the peace and tranquility, but nothing could prepare you for the experience in reality. I rated the venue 5 stars for everything except customer service, but this deserves clarification: the owners left us entirely up to our own devices, which was an absolute dream for us - but for guests who prefer a more hands-on approach from hosts, you may expect more. For us, it was perfection personified. We had the entire house, campsite, and forest all to ourselves, and didn't see another human from arrival to departure. The house has absolutely everything one might want or need; it's warm and welcoming; the lapa is the perfect place for a braai or ambiance fire if you want to get out of the house; the forest areas feel safe and expansive; the horses are gentle and enchanting (bring carrots); the donkey works like a charm for hot water, even though I'd never used one before. There is so much more to say, but let me wrap it up like this: undoubtedly the best weekend of my life with my partner. P.S. It's really easy to find if you follow Google Maps and download the info sheet on the website, and also don't be scared off by the recommendation to use a 4x4. My Citroen Cactus handled it with ease. Just exercise caution, and leave the Lamborghini at home.

Weekend away. We spent a magical weekend at the Berghuis Vadersberg Cabin in the Overberg near Napier — what a hidden gem! Nestled among pine trees with breathtaking mountain views, it’s the perfect peaceful escape into nature. The cold was no match for the cosy fireplace (and a glass of old brandy sherry!), and the kids loved making s’mores and lighting the donkey boiler for hot water. The highlight? The friendly horses who popped by to say hi — one even got a bit cheeky and tried to unpack our boot as we were leaving! We were treated to a stunning sunrise on our last morning, making it even harder to say goodbye. We fell in love with this place and can’t wait to go back! .

Truly obsessed with this hidden gem. Wondrous views, very beautiful place. There is a nearby town 20 min away just in case to refill petrol or stop by a store. Everything you need is accessible in the house. The beds are comfortable, everything is clean. The brown water is off-putting at first, but you can drink it and I assume it's part of the scenic experience. Moreover, you just need to light the donkey, but it takes longer to warm up than stated. The host is friendly and can be texted if you need anything. I would like to go back and stay there for longer than 3 days.

Wonderful cabin stay in the forest. The cabin was absolutely lovely. The area is very remote and two words kept popping up during our stay: serene and tranquil. If you are looking to unplug surrounded by nature, this is the stay for you. The horses also visited us every morning - it felt like a Disney movie. One great feature I wasn't expecting was the good pressure in the shower and how well the donkey system heated the water (we've stayed in a lot of remote areas and this is usually a downfall in those areas).
