Not a great experience.
We recently stayed at this property and really appreciated the beautiful view — it’s definitely the highlight of the stay. That said, we’d like to share some constructive feedback that we hope will be helpful for future guests and perhaps for the owner as well. When we arrived, we found the place very dusty — we needed to wipe down all the shelves before we could unpack our clothes. There were also crumbs/food over the kitchen counters, inside the cupboards, and on the floor. The shower didn’t appear to have been cleaned recently either, so we had to buy cleaning spray and gave it a good scrub before use. The bar fridge isn't big enough for four people and the tiny freezer was frozen over which also froze up the ice tray shelf shut and unusable. The front sliding door (the smaller of the two on the verandah) was very tricky to lock — it required quite a bit of jiggling and effort. The second sliding door couldn’t be opened from the outside, which is understandable due to a rusted/corroded lock, but we also couldn’t unlock it from the inside. It has a simple lever lock that just wouldn’t budge. We had to call the owner, who was very helpful and responsive, though we were asked whether there was a man around to try with more strength — which confirmed this isn’t just a minor issue. The door likely needs attention or repair. We avoided using this door completely. There’s a plastic outdoor table, which unfortunately has a large hole (not the umbrella hole) in it and another weak spot that’s nearly broken through — not ideal for balancing drinks or food. The inside table can seat two people to eat, not four. There are three plastic chairs for a four-person stay, which would be fine if not for the fact that the bench seating faces away from the beautiful view. It would be nice to have seating that allows all guests to enjoy it fully. We had also asked in advance about the built-in outdoor braai and were told one was available, so we didn’t bring a grid. On arrival, we couldn’t find one, upon calling the owner once again, he directed us to the Wendy house at the back, where we found two — one was in very poor condition (beyond cleaning), and the other was quite small, more suited to making sandwiches than cooking for four. The braai brush was unusable as well — just a piece of wood with no bristles left. The bedrooms were nice enough and the linen was of good quality, though we’d suggest avoiding dark brown and black bedding in a rental context, as it makes it hard to tell if it’s clean and the photos show white linen. Curtains in the second bedroom were also very thin — with the window taking up half the wall above the bed, the cold comes in easily, and the room could really use thicker curtains or even a headboard for insulation. It’s also worth noting that if I can see outside through the curtains, so can I be seen undressing etc — which is something to be mindful of for guest privacy since the window faces the road and the second one the neighbours. The second bedroom is quite tight for two adults. There’s a double bed pushed into the corner, leaving very little space to move on the other side, not even enough space for a small side table. It may be more accurately suited to children or as a single room. While the crockery and cutlery were lovely and stylish, the dinner plates unfortunately don’t fit or turn in the microwave, which made reheating tricky. Also, the window locks — which are carabiners — need some lubrication. Windows need to be cleaned, every time we opened or closed it, we needed to wash our hands due to greasiness. We understand this is a prefab house, and although that’s not a problem in itself, the price feels a bit steep for the quality offered, especially considering the uneven floors in many areas. With a few repairs, deeper cleaning, and small updates, this place could be so much more comfortable and better aligned with its asking price.
