The Matjiesvlei Cottages are situated in the secluded Matjiesvlei valley, at the foothills of the Swartberg Mountain Range, only 16 km from Calitzdorp. The spectacular mountain views, along with the mixed farming activities of the valley, provide a tranquil atmosphere. The valley is a dead end and, therefore, quiet, peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Matjiesvlei offers accommodation in 3 farm-style self-catering cottages, namely Middelplaas Cottage, Die Bokwagtershuis and Die Stalle. Middelplaas Cottage was renovated by the present owners into a cottage with the most beautiful view over the olive orchard, veld and mountains. It is located close to the Gamka River and can accommodate 4 people. Die Bokwagtershuis has been authentically restored to maintain its atmosphere, with the addition of modern amenities. It is ideal for 6 people.

Die Stalle has now been restored into a comfortable cottage with a beautiful view of the valley and mountains. It can accommodate 6 people. Each cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with a stove and oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, and toaster. Each cottage has indoor and outdoor braai facilities. Free Wi-Fi, linen and towels are provided.

On hot summer days, guests can cool off in the nearby farm dam or in the river. There is also a private picnic spot by the river. Nearby activities include fishing, bird watching, wine tasting, cycling, mountain biking and swimming.
