Tranquil. Cottage was very well equipped. Bedding and towels were also super comfy! Decor was a bit cluttered though, but that is probably personal taste.

Beautiful, tranquil among the olive groves and mountains. House was clean, the beds super comfy and warm, the finishing touches were perfect, and the decor was original, quirky, and lovely. Everything was thought of to make one's stay homely, comfortable and extremely enjoyable. Would love to go back again and stay longer.

Beautifully appointed and maintained retreat in a very dry inspiring remote Swartbergvalley. As a couple in our early 80s we found the overnight stay to be an ideal break from the long road trip. A very peaceful, off the beaten track remote breakaway 3 bedroom house ideal for 3 couples or family group to get back in to the world that has gone by. Relax, braai, walk, smell the spekboom and wonder at the spectacular mountains. Lovely, well-appointed veranda and covered braai for any weather and loadshedding! Thank you to the Nel family for opening your special retreat to us. Suggestions: I couldn't find out approximately where it was before booking, thought it was near Matjesrivier at the bottom of the Swartberg Pass. But after the booking I got good directions. When finding 1945 and the lockbox on the veranda, I was too incompetent to know how to open a lock box for the first time. I needed to flip up the black cover to expose the code wheels not push it! Also, missed the very non intrusive 1945 marking on the mile stone first time. (The house between the large new Guest House and Swartskaap at the end of the track). I will definitely try to return with friends or family.
