Our stay of three or four days was too short. Thank you very much. The house is very spacious and light, more than expected. Lovely garden. Facilities and fittings were of high quality. No unnecessary frills - simply perfect for us! My elderly relative and I stayed in Wilderness for a couple of nights to break up the drive from Cape Town to St Francis Bay. Melkhout was perfect for us - no fancy frills that we'd never use and that would push the price up. Just practical necessities - like a gas bottle and camping kettle for that urgent cup of tea during load shedding! Yes, it's a duplex arrangement, but we never heard a peep from next door. There are stairs up to the front door and up to the main bedroom/ensuite, but my uncle managed them fine. We enjoyed sitting on the sunny back patio drinking our first coffee of the day and listening to the birds in the beautiful big trees extending up the wooded hill. The key safe arrangement meant we were independent and that the hospitality was not obtrusive. Yet, Mia was really responsive through text, and we knew she was on hand at a moment's notice if we needed anything.
