Mike’s Lodge is a charming self-catering unit tucked away in the rural area of Olakeni in Sodwana Bay. Ideally located just off the main road, the cabin lies midway between Mbazwana, Sodwana’s nearest town, and the lively restaurant hub of Qondwane. This tranquil setting offers a true taste of the Zululand countryside, where visits from local Nguni cattle add to the authentic atmosphere.
This property can accommodate 6 adults and 2 children and comprises 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are located in the main house, while the remaining bedroom is a flatlet with its entrance attached to the house. The first bedroom is comfortably furnished with a queen-size bed, a child-only couch, and features an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed, while the third bedroom contains a queen-size bed, a child-only couch, and features an en-suite bathroom fitted with a bath. The third bathroom is fitted with a shower. Linen and bath towels are provided.
The home features a well-equipped kitchen that includes a gas stove, oven, air fryer, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, cutlery, crockery, fridge-freezer, washing machine, and a breakfast bar with stools. The lounge and dining area have comfortable seating for guests to dine and relax. For guests' entertainment, a TV with DStv channels and access to free Wi-Fi are available.
Outside, guests can enjoy braai facilities and are afforded secure on-site parking. The property has overnight security as well as daily cleaning.
Guests should note that the accommodation, like most in the Sodwana area, is accessed via gravel or sandy roads and is situated amongst the local Zulu community. While the rural setting may be unfamiliar to visitors from major cities, it forms part of the unique charm of the area.
