Description
Mushashani Bush Camp is situated on a private 3,100-hectare game farm, stretching along both sides of the Sand River, about 10 km south of Musina. It offers comfortable self-catering accommodation for families or groups of friends, and is perfect for nature lovers and those wanting a break from city life.
The camp consists of 3 air-conditioned rondavels, each furnished with 2 single beds, as well as a room with 6 single beds and air-conditioning. The camp can be booked as a whole and accommodates up to 12 guests. There are 2 bathrooms, one fitted with a shower, toilet, and basin, and the other with a bath, toilet, and basin. An additional outdoor shower with a basin is also available. Linen is provided, but guests are required to bring their own bath and swimming towels.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, 2 fridges, a 210 L freezer, kettle, pots, pans, cutlery, and crockery. The braai area features built-in seating around the firepit, as well as a thatched lapa. Guests are welcome to bring their own camping chairs.
A farm dam, which also serves as a swimming dam, is located about 50 m from the camp and has a rock deck with built-in seating.
Walking and cycling can be enjoyed along various farm roads, with breathtaking views from the surrounding hills and cliffs. The area boasts a rich diversity of flora and fauna, including striking baobab trees and fascinating rock formations. Leopards and other smaller predators are commonly found in the area, as well as wild dogs which are occasionally sighted. Guests can also expect to see a wide variety of game, from the shy and rare Sharpe’s Grysbok to kudu, eland, nyala, and klipspringer. The world-famous Sand River gneiss rock formations can also be seen here.
Please note that a 6 km gravel road leads to the camp after turning off the N1. Vehicles with high ground clearance or SUVs are recommended, although normal sedans or minibuses that aren’t too low should also manage without difficulty.
The word Mushashani is derived from Venda and loosely translates to “a temporary shelter for hunters.” Nearby attractions include the town of Musina with its unique golf course, Mapungubwe National Park, Tshipise, and other destinations that can easily be enjoyed on day trips.
