Situated on a 540-hectare working cattle farm, Mvemve Lodge at GrootPoort is a spacious and charming guest house located 40 km from Memel in the Northern Drakensberg on the border of Free State and KwaZulu Natal. It is an ideal option for overnight accommodation and is best accessed via 4x4 on the surrounding gravel roads.

This guesthouse offers a full-board service in a variety of cosy guest rooms. The rooms on offer include 2 queen rooms, 2 double rooms and 3 twin rooms which are all situated on the ground level. These 7 rooms do not have a private bathroom but make use of shared bathrooms fitted with either a bath and a shower or just a shower.

Additionally, there is a Maloti Suite and another double room on the first floor which have private bathrooms fitted with showers. All rooms have a capacity of 2 guests except the Maloti Suite can accommodate 4 guests.

Guests have full access to the lodge’s communal areas and coffee station. The lodge is spacious and includes a large living area with a dining space and a recreation room that opens to the patio and yard. Mvemve Lodge is a birdwatcher’s paradise and offers lovely hiking and cycling trails for the adventurous.
