Pennygrove Farmhouse and Cottages is set on a picturesque farm in Balgowan in the Natal Midlands. The farm is located within easy reach of wedding venues , various schools and Midmar Dam - ideal for wedding guests, accommodation during sports events or for a family seeking a quiet retreat.

Accommodation is provided in a choice between Pennygrove Cottage (4 sleeper), Kingfisher Cottage (4 sleeper) or Nguni Cottage (6 sleeper).

Pennygrove Cottage is ideal for a couple or a small family of 4 and comprises one bedroom with a Queen-size bed, a bathroom, and an open-plan living area with a bunkbed and kitchen. An inverter will run lights during load shedding/power outages. A gas heater is supplied as well as electric blankets for cold Midlands nights. A gas bottle with a cooking top is provided to heat water or food should there be a power failure. Fans are provided for hot days. The unit has a small step onto the deck and one small step into the unit.

Kingfisher Cottage is a beautiful unit with an enclosed veranda and a built-in braai. This unit is completely load-shedding friendly, as it has a gas stove, a gas geyser and an inverter for running lights and the TV. The Main bedroom has a queen-size bed (Electric blanket in winter). Adjacent to the main bedroom, there is a small bedroom with a bunk bed. The unit is ideal for a romantic couple's getaway or for a getaway for a small family. There is an air conditioning unit for use in summer. The unit is reasonably flat - no steps between rooms.

Nguni Cottage sleeps 6 guests and consists of 2 bedrooms (the Main with a Queen-size bed, the second bedroom with 2 single beds), 1 bathroom with a shower and bath, and an open-plan living area with a bunkbed and a kitchen. An inverter will run all lights during load shedding/power outages. A gas heater is supplied as well as electric blankets for cold Midlands nights. A gas bottle with a cooking top is provided to heat water or food should there be a power failure. Fans are provided for hot days. (Please note - Nguni cottage has 2 small steps to each bedroom, as well as 2 small steps up to the bathroom and kitchen.)

The farm is home to a small Nguni herd and has a dam, which offers catch-and-release bass fishing as well as kayaking.

Please note, we have a very friendly dog - Zoe - that lives on the farm with us. For the safety of other guests and our cattle, we do not allow pets on the farm.
