Perdekraal Tankwa Karoo is a tranquil self-catering cottage situated on a working farm in Sutherland, offering a peaceful retreat surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Tankwa Karoo.
This charming 3-bedroom cottage can accommodate up to 6 guests and features 2 spacious bedrooms, each furnished with a queen-size bed. The third bedroom has 2 single beds. All beds are fitted with electric blankets and additional blankets for those crisp Karoo nights. The bathroom has a shower, a Victorian-style bath, a toilet, and a basin.
The kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, gas stove, oven, microwave that can be used during daylight hours, tea and coffee-making facilities, and an Aga coal stove. The dining area seats 6 guests. The open-plan living area features a cosy indoor fireplace and braai area and comfortable couches. The cottage is entirely solar-powered, offering reliable lighting and refrigeration while maintaining an eco-friendly footprint. The house also has Wi-Fi and a VOIP line to stay connected.
The patio offers panoramic views of the Roggeveld mountains and the iconic Ouberg Pass. The property also features a boma with a fire pit. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the on-site hiking and mountain biking trails, where guests might see some wildlife, including springbok, kudu, hartebeest, and a rich variety of birdlife. A large dam, less than a kilometre from the house, attracts waterfowl and offers serene birdwatching opportunities.
