Wonderlike natuur en vriendelike ontvangs. Wonderlike uitsig op die rivier en berge met klonte. Baie vriendelike gasheer. Ons sal graag weer wil besoek.

A lovely riverside stay. Fantastic site right next to the Orange River, with majestic rocky outcrops. Incredibly atmospheric. The units were neat, clean, unfussy, and well kitted out, although I prefer sheets to comforters. I wish we could have stayed longer and done some canoeing. The host was very helpful and friendly, and went beyond the call of duty to post a forgotten item back to us. It is 17 km of dirt road from Vioolsdrift, but the drive gave us more opportunity to appreciate the river and mountains.

Peaceful, quiet location. The room was a lot bigger than the photo seemed. Jenny was welcoming and is a wonderful host. We would definitely recommend ordering a steak dinner when staying over too.

Pragtige ligging, ideaal vir visvang en ontspan in die natuur. Verblyf keurig en gerieflik! Die pad na die verblyf is definitief meer vir 4x4 geskik, maar doenbaar.

A real hidden gem. Riverside Retreat is truly a hidden gem! The setting is stunning, with breathtaking views of the Orange River and majestic mountains. Although the accommodation is modest and simple, the thoughtful touches—like the milk, cookies, and attention to detail—made our stay feel special. A highlight of our visit was kayaking across the river and swimming back, essentially crossing from Namibia to South Africa—a unique and unforgettable experience. Nadine was incredibly sweet, and Joseph’s insights about the mango farm added a charming and personal touch. One small negative is that we would have loved to stay in Room 1, which has the best view and was unoccupied during our visit, especially since it is priced the same. Additionally, the hot water and shower pressure in Room 3 could be improved. Despite these minor issues, our overall experience was fantastic.

Fantastic and relaxing few days in a beautiful spot. We spent 4 nights in this idyllic spot with a beautiful view of the Orange River and surrounding mountains. Stayed in Cottage No 1, which was clean, well equipped (only complaint would be that a bread knife would have been useful) and comfortable. Jenny and her husband are wonderful hosts and we were even presented with a delicious freshly baked loaf of bread on our third night there. We made use of the kayaks, although like some previous guests, getting out of the kayak from deep water onto the bank proved quite challenging! The accommodation is right next to the reserve, so it was easy to take walks into the reserve to enjoy the beautiful Richtersveld scenery.

Great value, great location. Although rustic, we found the accommodation to be very comfortable, and we enjoyed our stay immensely. The only small gripe is that it is very difficult for us in our mid seventies to get in and out of the kayak. A rope attached to something solid would have helped. We enjoyed walking into the Richtersveld National Park, which is less than 100m away. The stunning beauty was such that we could not help but stare.

Would revisit anytime when close by. What an absolute champion location! Would suggest a tuck shop of some sort on the retreat, as the ease of getting basic goods like bread, for instance, would greatly improve the comfort. The host is very friendly and willing to help wherever possible.
