Back to nature. This was our second stay at Scalarhoney Lodge. Love it for its remoteness and off the grid living! You have time to explore the hiking routes or just chill next to the river.

Alone with my 2 dogs - blissful, beautiful, safe, unforgettable! All I wanted for my birthday this year was to go somewhere alone with my 2 dogs to rest, far from everything and everyone (no cell phone reception was such a bonus). And then I discovered this 'gem'. The surroundings took my breath away, I couldn't stop looking at the incredible beauty of creation. I slept with the door open and could listen all night to the water lapping over the stones in the stream, probably 5m from the cabin. We were the only 'guests' and thoroughly enjoyed the silence. The weather was perfect and we could swim and walk to our hearts content. For my 4-legged friends it was dog heaven and for me, exactly what I needed. The facilities were more than adequate. The dirt/stone road from Twee Riviere to the farm gave me a bit of a scare at the beginning, but it was completely unnecessary because the Corsa bakkie could easily get in and out (with heavy rain it certainly can lol). Thank you very much - it was the most wonderful birthday weekend. Definitely plan to go again, because 2 days was hopelessly too short!

Incredibly beautiful surroundings. Lots of hiking trails. Streams to swim in. We really enjoyed our stay - facilities basic but more than adequate. Please note that you will need a high clearance vehicle to reach the Lodge.

Rustic, off grid, nature, relaxing. Now this is a location everyone should experience at least once in their lives. It is more off the grid, so come prepared. No signal, which is great as it allows you to fully be present and enjoy the gorgeous mountain views. Very nice to be back in nature. What an awesome destination, free from cell phones, TV, and WiFi. If that is your kind of weekend, you need to get away from the city life, it's here. You are right next to a river and the water rushing over the rocks will put you to sleep. The water from the river is the best drinking water I have ever tasted. Andre, the owner, with his second in command, takes care of everything. Thank you for everything. See you soon. PS: We need a few more markers for directions to the lodge.
