Description

Shawu's Hide is a secluded retreat tucked away in the heart of the Welgevonden Game Reserve, Limpopo. Located in the western section of the reserve near the central airstrip, the lodge combines ease of access with a remarkable sense of remoteness. Set high atop the Waterberg, it offers sweeping views across the surrounding wilderness, with wildlife frequently spotted from the deck and private waterhole below.

The lodge is made up of 2 adjacent chalets, each featuring 2 en-suite bedrooms and a shared patio, ideal for a group of 10 guests. An additional en-suite bedroom is accessible from the main lodge. All bedrooms can be set up as twin or king beds, offering flexibility for guest needs. Each room is thoughtfully furnished with quality linen, bath and swimming towels, and complimentary hand soaps and creams for added comfort. Guests will find coffee and tea stations in each chalet, while satellite Wi-Fi is available in the main lodge.

At the heart of the lodge is a spacious open-plan lounge with a large fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, equipped with a fridge, stove, oven, microwave, cutlery, crockery, and tea- and coffee-making facilities, and a dining room that opens onto a glass-enclosed entertainment area. This space features a generous dining table and loungers, all with views of the nearby waterhole. Guests can choose to enjoy a self-catering experience or opt to bring their own provisions and have the resident chef prepare meals.

Shawu's Hide offers a variety of spaces for relaxation and connection with nature. These include a covered patio overlooking the waterhole, a separate outdoor lounge area, and an elevated swimming pool with panoramic views. Dining options include indoor and outdoor areas as well as an open boma with a braai.

The property is unfenced, offering guests a truly immersive wilderness experience. Wildlife such as lions, elephants, and other game can often be observed directly from the lodge, particularly around the private waterhole.

Every stay includes morning and afternoon game drives, conducted by a personal and accredited game ranger. Afternoon drives include sundowners in the bush, allowing guests to enjoy a drink and snacks while watching the sun set over the African landscape. With prior arrangement and subject to availability, guests may also enjoy private guided walks or make use of the nearby Bushpig Lapa.
