A tranquil retreat is offered at Shengeza Lake Lodge Campsites, which is nestled among indigenous trees in Kwangwanas and provides the ideal escape for anyone seeking a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. The property forms part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, an area celebrated for its pristine beauty and rich biodiversity. Guests are treated to peaceful surroundings, the sounds of nature, and the opportunity to reconnect with the outdoors in a unique lakeside setting.

Accommodation is provided in 4 spacious campsites, each accommodating up to 4 guests. Campers have access to well-maintained open-air ablution facilities fitted with showers and toilets, ensuring comfort and convenience throughout their stay. For additional ease, a shared kitchen, pizza oven, braai facilities, and a swimming pool are available for all guests to enjoy. Access to Shengeza Lake allows visitors to appreciate the area’s diverse ecosystem and observe local wildlife, including hippos and a variety of bird species.

A variety of activities can be enjoyed in the surrounding area. The Kosi Bay Mouth, often referred to as “the aquarium,” is known for its crystal-clear waters and world-class snorkelling opportunities. Between November and March, licensed guided tours are offered to witness Loggerhead and Leatherback turtles nesting on the beach at night. The Kosi Bay lake system can be explored by boat, offering close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species, while the traditional Thonga fish traps showcase the local community’s ancient and sustainable fishing methods.

Within easy reach lies Bhanga Nek, a pristine beach located approximately 12 km south of the Kosi Bay estuary and 15 km from the Mozambique border. The area forms part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and offers excellent opportunities for snorkelling, fishing, and peaceful beach walks. Visitors are reminded that park fees apply for access to the protected areas.
