Description
Windmill Cottage is a stylish, secluded retreat nestled at the foot of the mountains in the southwestern Tankwa Karoo. Accommodating up to 4 guests, this charming escape offers a tranquil haven in the heart of unspoilt natural wilderness.
The cottage features 2 bedrooms and a bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet, and basin, as well as a refreshing outdoor shower and bath. Both bedrooms are furnished with queen-size beds. For families travelling with young children, there is space for 2 smaller children on a mezzanine level in one of the bedrooms. This must be arranged in advance, directly with the host.
The fully equipped kitchen caters to all self-catering needs and includes a stove, oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, cutlery, and crockery. Essentials such as salt, pepper, sugar, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, tea, and coffee are provided. The cottage runs completely off-grid, powered by a 220-volt solar system and LPG gas, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of electricity and hot water.
The open-plan living area includes a dining table, comfortable seating, and a cosy fireplace with wood and firelighters supplied. This space opens onto a generous covered verandah, which features an outdoor dining table, a built-in braai area, a luxurious outdoor double bed, and ample space for relaxing on loungers.
A plunge pool with an adjacent cargo-net stargazing platform completes the idyllic Karoo stoep scene. A smaller, heated plunge pool is also situated adjacent to the house for added comfort.
For those eager to explore, the farm offers a variety of hiking and mountain biking trails leading through diverse and picturesque terrain. Guests may also encounter a wide array of endemic wildlife and bird species, making this a perfect retreat for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
