Lovely, accommodating, home away from home. The place is beautiful. The host was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice. The one room at the back is a bit dull, but on request I moved to a much better lightened room.

Lovely yet disappointing. Amabwe was well located for our purposes with friendly staff and a beautiful room with a super comfy bed. Nonetheless, at per night, it was the most expensive backpackers-style place we've stayed in, including actual backpackers. Due to the central communal living area, your stay can be made tricky by your fellow guests. In our case, drunken revelry until 2am with a fire in the fireplace causing such smoke in our bedroom that we slept under a ceiling fan with the windows open in the middle of winter just to breathe. The manager attempted to address the situation and we got a sincere apology but were left with "There was smoke because there was fire and they were noisy because they were intoxicated." After each of two relatively sleepless nights, we had an enjoyable breakfast (but served with instant coffee and margarine). Despite the fantastic location, lovely room and friendly staff, I wouldn't take another risk on it.

Breakfast was cold. No sauces to go with breakfast and no selection of tea or coffee - had 1 type of tea. Shower was leaking all over the floor in the bathroom.
