Quiet, nature, perfect. It was exactly what we needed: a break away from our busy lives, just to be.

For peace and tranquility, look no further! I spent 3 nights on a solo retreat in the quaint stone cottage in a secluded valley on the farm. Perfect for escaping all the busyness of modern life. Amidst the farm animals and some local wildlife, it was wonderfully peaceful and relaxing. The cottage was lovely and cool during the hot days and well-insulated against the cold in the evenings. It was perfect for what I wanted and had all the basic comforts needed. Not another sign of a person, vehicle or building in sight. Definitely take a walk up the hill along the farm track at sunset; you won't regret it. Just a heads-up that the lights are solar-powered and they are controlled via two small remotes, not conventional wall light switches. A good idea to take some insect repellent and Doom spray along too - it is a working farm after all.

Relaxing, peaceful and simple. We loved the location of Appelkoos Cottage. The kitchen is small but well supplied - the rusks were a delicious bonus. There were enough lights, candles, etc. to not have to bring any extras. This is the ideal place if you are wanting a break from it all and want to keep things basic. The sparrows were busy building a nest in the outside braai, so we suggest it be checked before starting a fire there.

We had a lovely, quiet stay. Beautiful night sky. De Hoop Nature Reserve and Malgas nearby. Thanks a lot.

Beautiful, traquil and amazing are only but a few words to describe this awesome place. Definetely something for everyone to experience at least once. Thank you to the owners for their amazing hospitality. We loved every moment. Cleanliness and convenience of an "excellent" class. Breaking away from your ordinary day-to-day life in this manner definitely does wonders for the mind, body and soul.
