A slice of paradise. A short 3km car-friendly dirt road is all it takes to get to Chestnut Lodge from the main R536 Sabie - Hazyview road. The lodge is in a quiet, tranquil setting of bush and farm plantations of avocados and macadamias with sweeping views of the valley below and distant mountains. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean with beautiful valley and mountain views. It is well worth getting up early to catch the morning sun as it rises over the distant mountains to shine onto your veranda. The restaurant's food is fresh, tasty and generous, clearly made with care, and no effort is spared to accommodate any specific food allergies or special dietary requirements. The vegan and vegetarian dishes were sublime! The overall service experience was attentive and professional, and we were well looked after. There are quite a few activities to undertake in the surrounds, and lodge management is happy to advise on what is available. A huge thank you to the whole team who brought their A-game every day.

Dear Adele, we are humbled by this glowing review! Thank you so much for being our first ever booking on LekkeSlaap as well as our first ever review here. It was a pleasure to host you and your husband, and we are so glad you were up early enough to experience the sunrise because that is definitely one of the best parts of the Chestnut experience from late autumn to early spring, and so fitting for Mpumalanga ("Place of the Rising Sun")!
