We rented the house for a family celebration, and had a great time. The house is in a beautiful setting, but is a bit tired. Not sure I would describe it as a four-star guesthouse. Comfortable with friendly staff. My daughter and I had a lovely stay at Elgin Vintners Country House. Friendly staff and delicious breakfast. It was off season, so very quiet. Not sure about the 4-star rating, but nevertheless a good stay in peaceful surroundings.

Disappointing stay for the price. We recently stayed at this 4-star property, and unfortunately, it did not live up to its rating or the price of R3200 per night. The room was dated, with fine mould on the bedroom and bathroom ceilings and on the curtains. The fitted sheet for the king bed was too small, though the bed itself was comfortable. However, the bedding seemed more suited for winter, making the already hot room unbearable—there was no air conditioning or even a fan provided. A special overnight stay. The peaceful site with the Herbert Baker residence surrounded by a beautiful garden of color with a view of the Hottentots-Hollandberg was just what was needed after an exhausting journey with heavy traffic. The spacious room is tastefully furnished.
