We rented the house for a family celebration, and had a great time. The house is in a beautiful setting, but is a bit tired. Not sure I would describe it as a four-star guesthouse. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I think the pricing was fair, but with a bit of investment I would have been prepared to pay more.

Comfortable with friendly staff. My daughter and I had a lovely stay at Elgin Vintners Country House. Friendly staff and delicious breakfast. It was off season, so very quiet. Not sure about the 4-star rating, but nevertheless a good stay in peaceful surroundings.

Disappointing stay for the price. We recently stayed at this 4-star property, and unfortunately, it did not live up to its rating or the price of R3200 per night. The room was dated, with fine mould on the bedroom and bathroom ceilings and on the curtains. The fitted sheet for the king bed was too small, though the bed itself was comfortable. However, the bedding seemed more suited for winter, making the already hot room unbearable—there was no air conditioning or even a fan provided. The carpets were not particularly clean, and overall, the room barely met a 3-star standard. The lack of amenities was disappointing. The staff leave at 17:00, leaving no dining options after 16:00. The coffee station, awkwardly placed on a small TV trolley in the hallway, felt like an afterthought. The DSTV didn’t work, and although staff promised it would be fixed the following day, no one followed up or provided an update. Similarly, the WiFi was poor, and staff were unable to provide passwords for stronger signals. The pool was a highlight, but it wasn’t cleaned properly, and the poolside bathroom seemed neglected, with visible dirt and no evidence of recent cleaning. Breakfast was the only redeeming part of the stay. There was a good selection, but unfortunately, the bacon and eggs were cold both mornings. As compensation for the lack of DSTV, we received two glasses of white wine, but communication from the staff beyond that was sparse. Overall, this property is more reflective of a 3-star rating at best, and even then, our specific room struggled to meet that standard. For the high price, we expected much better.

‘n Besondere oornagplek. Die rustige werf met die Herbert Baker-woning omring deur 'n pragtuin van kleur met uitsig op die Hottentots-Hollandberg was net wat nodig was na 'n uitputtende reis met swaar verkeer. Die ruim kamer is smaakvol ingerig.
