Description
Evergreen Karee River Camp is a privately owned farm on the banks of the Marico River, 9 km outside the small village of Groot Marico. The property is situated in the UNESCO-approved Marico Biosphere Reserve, just a 2.5-hour drive from Gauteng.
Accommodation includes off-road or rooftop caravan and tenting stays within 40 m of the Marico River. There are no designated camp stands, but guests who are self-sufficient with their own toilets and showers can park anywhere on the property. Sweet Thorn Camp Base House is suitable for 1–8 guests and features a private toilet, shower, kitchenette, and undercover braai area. River Bushwillow Camp Base House is ideal for 1–12 guests and has a private toilet, shower, kitchen and dining area, and an undercover braai area. A maximum of 20 guests can share the 2 camp base houses. Additional guests with their own camping equipment and self-sufficient toilets and showers may be accommodated, up to 10 extra people.
Guests need to provide their own camping and renting equipment, cutlery, crockery, bedding etc. and self-catering.
There is no electricity at the camp, but solar lights are provided, and there is an electrical point 200 m away to charge appliances or equipment and for use with a fridge-freezer.
The camp is set in a large, spacious, and beautiful nature spot that offers peace and tranquillity. Activities in the area include walking, hiking, cycling, canoeing, tubing, mountain biking, stargazing, bird watching, and indigenous tree spotting. Picnic spots are available at the river or at the Groot Marico Eye, 30 km away, which also offers scuba diving, snorkelling, and swimming. Citrus picking is available in season.
Doggy stays are welcome at a cost of R100,00 per dog for a DURATION stay. Please read our doggy stays terms and conditions and advise if you are bringing any dog/so with please.
There is limited cellphone signal at the camp site but hot spot signals close to the camp site, good signal within 2,5 kms of the farm and wi Fi accessibility at the main farm house in the event of any emergencies.
