Life slows down as you turn onto Highway West, a country road, leading you to Fernhill Guest Farm, which is situated just outside Knysna in the beautiful area of Rheenendal. This area is known for its magical ancient forests, cycling and hiking trails.
Fernhill Guest Farm is a mere short drive to Knysna and the beautiful beach at Buffalo Bay, while only being 20 minutes away from Sedgefield, with its ever-popular Saturday Wild Oats Market.
The 4 self-catering Farm Cottages overlook the farm camps where farm animals peacefully graze, creating the perfect setting to slow down and enjoy a lingering braai with friends and family. The cottages can accommodate up to 6 guests and contain 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The living area has a sleeper couch for accommodating a fifth or sixth guest and the kitchens are well-equipped for self-catering. There is an inside log-burning fireplace to keep you warm on the colder winter nights and a shady stoep with built-in braai for summer nights. The uninterrupted view of the sunrise will make it worth your while to wake up early, sit out on the stoep and greet the day with cup of coffee, while watching the sun spread over the farmlands.
For those who enjoy walks, there are many beautiful trails on the 56-hectare farm and you are welcome to bring your dogs, at a nominal fee, as the fully fenced cottages are pet friendly. The area is also very popular with mountain bikers, so bring your bicycle and explore this region that forms part of the 7 Passes Route between Knysna and George. The property is situated in a conservancy, so in addition to the farm animals, there is a lot of free-roaming wildlife including bushbuck, bush pigs, leopards, monkeys, baboons, porcupines and a large variety of birds.
