Dear Daryl, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're very sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations, and we regret that you left feeling disappointed.
We always appreciate constructive comments, as they help us identify areas for improvement. However, we were surprised by the severity of your review, especially as no concerns were raised with us during your stay. Our caretaker checked in with you on the evening of your arrival, and you mentioned that things were going well. We were later informed that your early departure was due to work-related reasons, rather than dissatisfaction with the accommodation.
We understand that expectations can differ, and we’re sorry to hear that you found the furnishings uncomfortable and the cleanliness lacking. We had carried out a thorough clean before your arrival, especially following a long-term stay and our listing photos accurately represent the layout and condition of our home. That said, we know that Doringbaai’s environment can be challenging; during your visit, strong easterly winds were blowing, which unfortunately brings in dust and sand despite our best efforts.
Regarding the towels, we found and laundered four used towels after your departure, which suggests that more than one was available. We certainly aim to provide sufficient amenities and would have been happy to assist had we known there was an issue at the time.
We do acknowledge that our listing didn’t include written directions at the time of your booking, and we’ve since added this for future guests. However, we also encourage guests to reach out if anything is unclear—our caretaker and owner’s contact details were available, and we’re always happy to help. We understand there may have been some miscommunication on arrival, and we’re sorry if that set a difficult tone for the rest of your visit.
We genuinely value guest feedback, and while we’re disappointed to hear your experience wasn’t a positive one, we remain committed to improving and learning wherever we can.
