'I'll be back.'. Fantastic. Maryna was absolutely amazing and responded immediately when I called during our stay. With 3 braai areas, a bar and a huge kitchen area, who can complain.

Break-in while sleeping - owner showed no concern. We stayed at Jacobsbaai Self-catering from 27 to 30 June 2025, and unfortunately, we experienced a break-in while we were asleep inside the house. The alarm had been armed, as instructed by the owner’s representative. ERP Security later confirmed that the stoep beam was not working due to flat batteries, which is why the alarm never triggered. We were told only upon arrival that this specific house has been targeted for break-ins before. Neighbours confirmed this, adding that the house has been broken into multiple times, and it’s evident — the locks are damaged and the property is secured with small padlocks that offer very little protection. After the break-in, we received no sympathy or concern from the owner. He never asked if we were okay. When we inquired about whether there was any cover or insurance, his response was a sarcastic, "Did you Google these things now?" We were so shaken that we left a full day early, feeling completely unsafe. The worst part is that when we expressed our concerns, he was arrogant enough to tell us to go ahead and leave a review — that he doesn’t care. We lost personal belongings, including a smartwatch, clothing, and bank cards, but what stays with us is the feeling of being fully exposed, unsupported, and dismissed. The house may appear charming in photos, but it is not secure, not properly maintained, and managed with zero care for the safety or wellbeing of guests. Please think twice before booking. Your peace of mind and safety deserve better.

Dear Kurt, We are very sorry to hear that you had such a distressing experience during your stay. The safety and wellbeing of our guests are extremely important to us, and it is deeply upsetting to hear that you felt unsafe and unsupported. We would like to clarify a few points in response to your review. In nearly 18 years of hosting, this property has only experienced two incidents of this nature. While we acknowledge that any security incident is one too many, we have consistently taken steps to maintain and improve the safety of the property over the years, including the installation of an alarm system with outdoor beams. Following your report, the issue with the beam was investigated and resolved. We understand that this does not undo what happened, but please be assured that we take all concerns seriously and act on them wherever possible. We were under the impression that communication with you was open at the time and are disappointed to hear that you felt it was not handled with sufficient care or empathy. That was certainly not our intention. We are truly sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations and that you left feeling unsettled. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to work toward providing a secure and welcoming environment for all our guests.

Fantasties, ek gaan beslis weer. Ek geniet veral die swembad op die stoep. Baie lekker, die plek is fantasties. Ongelukkig word daarvoor die huis gebou en was die masjiene wat gebruik was deur die bouers baie raserig tot laat Saterdagmiddag. Hoop net die eienaars weet hul seaview word weggeneem. Andersins was ons verblyf baie lekker en ons sal beslis weer die huis bespreek in die toekoms.
