Break-in while sleeping - owner showed no concern. We stayed at Jacobsbaai Self-catering from 27 to 30 June 2025, and unfortunately, we experienced a break-in while we were asleep inside the house. The alarm had been armed, as instructed by the owner’s representative. ERP Security later confirmed that the stoep beam was not working due to flat batteries, which is why the alarm never triggered. We were told only upon arrival that this specific house has been targeted for break-ins before. Neighbours confirmed this, adding that the house has been broken into multiple times, and it’s evident — the locks are damaged and the property is secured with small padlocks that offer very little protection. After the break-in, we received no sympathy or concern from the owner. He never asked if we were okay. When we inquired about whether there was any cover or insurance, his response was a sarcastic, "Did you Google these things now?" We were so shaken that we left a full day early, feeling completely unsafe. The worst part is that when we expressed our concerns, he was arrogant enough to tell us to go ahead and leave a review — that he doesn’t care. We lost personal belongings, including a smartwatch, clothing, and bank cards, but what stays with us is the feeling of being fully exposed, unsupported, and dismissed. The house may appear charming in photos, but it is not secure, not properly maintained, and managed with zero care for the safety or wellbeing of guests. Please think twice before booking. Your peace of mind and safety deserve better.

Fantastic, I will definitely go again. I especially enjoy the pool on the porch. Very nice, the place is fantastic. Unfortunately, the house is being built for that and the machines used by the builders were very noisy until late Saturday afternoon. Just hope the owners know their seaview is being taken away. Otherwise, our stay was very nice and we will definitely book the house again in the future.
