Matroosbergstasie Karoohuisies is a lovely piece of heaven situated in the countryside only 27 km from De Doorns. Matroosberg Karoohuisies is an out-of-service train station and is now part of a working sheep and cattle farm. The farm is completely independent of power and water networks and tries to live environmentally friendly along with nature.
Accommodation on the farm comprises 4 lovely self-catering cottages each furnished with comfortable beds, a bathroom fitted with a shower, a well-equipped kitchen, a cosy lounge area and a patio and a private heated plunge pool. The fourth cottage comprises 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and kitchen and living area with built-in braai and a heated pool. All linen, bath and swimming towels are supplied.
De Doorns lies on the main route to and from Cape Town, Johannesburg and Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and is a town full of cultural heritages. Nearby activities include wine tasting, hiking, cycling, 4x4 routes and bird watching.
