Modderfontein Farm Campsite is nestled in the heart of Namaqualand, just 10 km outside Springbok on the Kleinzee Road. Perfectly off the grid, this campsite offers a peaceful base for travellers eager to witness the region's world-renowned natural flower spectacle. It also serves as a convenient stopover for those journeying to or from the Richtersveld or Namibia.
The campsite features 15 unmarked stands, providing both privacy for solo adventurers and flexibility for larger groups. There is no electricity at the stands, allowing guests to truly disconnect and enjoy the raw beauty of their surroundings. It is almost bush camping or wild camping in its purest form, in the untouched and undisturbed nature.
Guests have access to 2 clean and tiled ablution blocks equipped with hot water, ideal for soothing the body after a day of exploration. The facilities are also designed with easy access for paraplegic visitors.
Evenings at Modderfontein would not be complete without a classic campfire experience. Guests can braai under the stars, prepare a traditional potjiekos, and unwind around the fire in the quiet of the Namaqualand night.
The farm invites exploration, whether through a gentle walk down to the river’s unique potholes, across wildflower-filled fields or a more energetic mountain bike ride to the rocky outcrops. Visitors can also admire the iconic quiver trees standing tall in their natural glory.
