We are sorry to hear that you were not happy with your stay.
Regarding the fan switches, all were indeed functional, so perhaps the intended ones were not tried. Concerning the uneven number of glasses and extras, please note that the unit is equipped for its maximum occupancy of 6 guests, with 6 of each item provided. Occasionally, we have considerate guests who may leave behind extra items, particularly after having visitors. You are the first guest to express dissatisfaction with having more than the exact number, which we understand is a matter of personal preference.
As a self-catering unit, guests are expected to provide for their own needs, similar to a private holiday home rental, which typically does not include meals or toiletries like shower gel. This is the standard understanding of self-catering accommodation.
We will certainly inspect the toilet lid that is not staying open and offer our sincere apologies for the broken dustbin lid.
KwaZulu-Natal does have a humid, subtropical climate, which may not be to everyone's liking. We might suggest considering this when booking in the region in the future. The unit is designed to be cool and comfortable, especially given that the KZN heat is often a point of concern for visitors, so the cooler interior is typically seen as a positive.
While we were unaware of scheduled building work during your stay, we did provide a full refund to compensate for the one day when construction activity was apparent.
Ultimately, we understand that it is challenging to meet every individual guest's preferences. We made every effort to ensure a comfortable stay, but it appears that your expectations were not met.
