Description

Sand River Conservancy lies in the foothills of the Bontberg Mountains, about 230 km from Cape Town on the edge of the Tankwa Karoo, with vegetation ranging from mountain grasses to succulents. The land was previously used as winter grazing for sheep but it is now managed as a conservation area, with the aim of rehabilitating the veld where necessary.

Please note that same-day bookings cannot be accommodated.

Wagon House offers rustic dormitory-style accommodation that can accommodate up to 12 people. The unit features a double bed, 5 bunk bed sets and 2 modern bathrooms, 1 of which is wheelchair friendly. The fully equipped kitchenette offers a gas stove and a fridge-freezer combination. There is also a breakfast bar and a picnic-style table. Outside, there is a large braai area and a plunge pool.

The unit has electric lighting throughout and an Internet connection. Enough electric capacity is available to charge electronic devices but this is limited to laptops and cameras only. Bedding, towels and firewood are all provided for the duration of your stay.

Please note that there are gravel roads en-route to Wagon House. When staying at Sand River, a high clearance vehicle is advised as the road is not suitable for the average sedan car. Please note, you will be asked to sign a disclaimer form before entering the property for the first time.
