Peaceful and pampered. I know the Eastern Cape well and Bathurst has always been a favourite spot to relax and enjoy the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Solitude is just a 20-minute walk from the famous Pig & Whistle pub, but feels as remote as the Karoo with forests instead of scrubland. A beautiful view and just the birds and wind in the trees for sounds. Very spacious, clean and comfy accommodation and nice personal touches like snacks and organic toiletries. Special.

Tranquil, peaceful, tasteful decor and a most welcoming place. A tranquil and peaceful stay. The perfect base to explore Bathurst and surrounding areas. The hosts were very friendly and all the little extras like the welcome basket of fruit and the coffee, tea and crunchies were most welcome. Solitude on Somerset will definitely see us again.

Indescribably good. We were a bit lost but got directions and found our accommodation in this quaint village of historic Bathurst. The welcome by Richard was superb, and the quality of the unit was absolutely top drawer. It is well worth deviating from the main roads to stay at this venue.
