Sterland La Pari Pari & Bay Window is a lovely Victorian house that can sleep 9 people with comfort and is situated in Sutherland.
La Pari-Pari Main house accommodates 5 guests. The first room has a double bed, the second room 2 single beds and 1 three-quarter bed. Each room has a panel heater, an electric blanket and towels. The 2 bathrooms each have a shower.
The house has a kitchen that is equipped with a fridge-freezer, a microwave, as well as a stove and oven, as well as an indoor braai. The lounge is equipped with a TV as well as a cosy fireplace for chilly days. There is a built braai under the trees outside.
The Bay Window is a separate room from the main house with its own small kitchen and en-suite bathroom. The unit is furnished with a double bed and offers an en-suite bathroom fitted with a toilet, basin and shower. The kitchenette is equipped with a bar fridge, microwave and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The bedroom next door with 2 single beds can be added for children or travel friends.
Stargazing events are hosted between 20:00 and 22:00 almost every night, but booking is essential. Along with the stars, there is an impressive fossil collection and a knowledgeable guide to answer all questions. A short lecture is given, after which guests are taken to the 6 11-inch telescopes. Visitors can also take a tour of the Dutch Reformed Church, the NP van Wyk Louw Museum, visit the observatory house to view the largest telescope in the Southern Hemisphere, or drive the scenic Ouberg Pass. Of the great walking routes, the shortest is 3 km.
