The Woodpecker Guesthouse is conveniently located in the town of Ficksburg and offers a peaceful retreat with a tranquil garden featuring water features that attract abundant birdlife.

Accommodation is available in 13 rooms. Eight rooms each accommodate 2 guests on double beds, two rooms accommodate 3 guests with a double and a single bed, and three rooms can each accommodate 4 guests. All rooms have an en-suite bathroom fitted with either a bath or a shower. In-room facilities include air-conditioning, a mini-fridge, microwave, tea- and coffee-making facilities, Wi-Fi, and DStv.

The guest house is centrally located on the Maluti Route in the Eastern Free State, with the majestic Maluti Mountains providing a scenic backdrop—lush and green in summer and snow-capped in winter. The surrounding hills are home to several caves with well-preserved San rock art. Ficksburg serves as a gateway to Lesotho, the AfriSki resort, and the Katse Dam.

The area is popular for its natural beauty and outdoor activities such as fly-fishing, quad biking, hiking, pony trekking, and skiing in winter. Ionia near Ficksburg also hosts South Africa’s oldest festival, the annual Cherry Festival, which takes place each November.
