Description
Thornwood Lodge is situated off the R516, approximately 40 km outside Bela-Bela and approximately 2 hours from Johannesburg. This group venue is located at the start of the Waterberg with Zebula Golf Course to the west and Mabalingwe Nature Reserve to the east.
The lodge can accommodate up to 16 guests, and comprises 3 chalets and 2 loft rooms. The chalets can accommodate up to 4 guests in each and the loft rooms can accommodate 2 guests in each. Each chalet is equipped with a bar fridge, microwave, tea- and coffee-making facilities, a hairdryer, soaps, a ceiling fan, an electric heater, bedside lamps, a rechargeable lamp and 3 solar lights with a battery pack. The lapa is serviced each morning. Extra accommodation is available on a sleeper couch, or on floor mattresses for children.
Guests have access to the central lapa which comprises a kitchen equipped with crockery and cutlery, a stove and oven, 2 gas burners, a microwave, a fridge, and freezers. The lapa also has a guest self-run bar and a dining area, and is equipped with full DStv and Wi-Fi. Guests can enjoy views from the deck. Below the lapa is a games room equipped with a pool table and table tennis table. There is also a dart board, and guests are required to bring their own darts. The lodge features a rim-flow swimming pool, as well as an enclosed boma for braais or bonfires. Free wood is available. Linen and bath towels are provided, and guests are required to bring their own swimming towels.
Open parking is available near the accommodation, and the accommodation is accessed a sand road. There are game such as blesbok, warthog, impala, nyala, zebra, and steenbok. There are golf courses in the surrounding area such as Zebula, Elements and Koro Creek. Adventures with Elephants is nearby.
