Grootdraai dam
Description
The Grootdraai Dam is an impressive dam situated in the upper reaches of the Vaal River near Standerton, Mpumalanga. Established in 1981, the dam was built to support the water needs of the petrol plants at Secunda, ESKOM’S Tutuka Power Station, as well as the Matla Power Station, Duyha Power Station, Kendal Power Station, and Kriel Power Station.
The dam typically experiences stronger winds than on the Vaal Dam. Due to this, visitors will find that this is the perfect windsurfing spot.
