"The local government really needs to step out. Service delivery is really poor in the area, to name a few: Traffic lights don't work. Loadshedding impacts water supply. Potholes. Garbage all over the place and in the streets. Pipe bursts and running water in most of the main road. The area is currently going through a water crisis as well."
"In town, yes I would recommend Gqebera. The crime rate in the township is very high."
Sou graag langer wou kuier."
"Everything is always just a stone's throw away from each other, unlike big cities like JHB and Cape Town."
"The weather was a bit iffy and we were not there for a holiday, but it seems a pleasant enough destination with the beaches close by, any number of restaurants and lots of shopping opportunities. From available publications, it seems there are more than enough attractions in the area. The road conditions leave a bit to be desired."
"PE is PE - won't go there for a holiday as I stay in Cape Town - but for galas we have to go."
"Need to clean the streets, a lot of rubbish around. Night driving is a bit scary, lots of cars driving recklessly, maybe a bigger law enforcement presence at night."
Daar is baie toeriste-aantreklikede."
"No traffic! Friendly residents. Safe for walks and runs. Lovely beaches and malls and traffic officers. I do wish there were more night markets inviting you out etc. But a really tranquil city!"
"It is definitely not a tourist destination with not much to do. I travelled for work, but my husband just went along and didn't have much to do. We did have one day to do things. Googling "things to do in PE" does not help at all, as the only answers are game drives and coming from Mpumalanga it is not something I would want to do. We ended up driving around to find places. Fort Frederick is interesting but sadly abandoned, as well as the infamous lighthouse. Sancorp was very interesting and I am saddened that not many people know about them as they do amazing work. Camelot Spa was amazing and shark rock pier was very well looked after. The rest of the town is kind of run-down and littered. A letdown if you compare it to other harbour/ industrial ocean areas like Mosselbay and V&A Waterfront."
