House Rules

Welcome to our secluded retreat in the heart of Tesselaarsdal.
To ensure a safe, comfortable, and respectful experience for everyone, please take note of the following house rules:

1. No Smoking Indoors
Smoking is not allowed inside the lodge. You're welcome to smoke outside — please use the provided ashtray and be cautious with fire, especially during dry months.

2. Fires & Hot Tub Safety
Please follow the instructions for safe use of the indoor fireplace and the KolKol wood-fired hot tub. Never leave fires unattended and ensure they are fully extinguished before going to bed or leaving the lodge.

3. Quiet Hours
Please keep noise to a minimum between 9:30 PM and 7:00 AM out of respect for the peaceful surroundings and our neighbors.

4. Visitors
Only guests included in the booking may stay overnight. If you’d like to receive day visitors, please inform us in advance.

5. Children
The property is not fully child-friendly. There is an unfenced dam, a deep tub, and an open hot tub. Children must be supervised at all times.

6. No Parties or Events
We do not allow parties or loud gatherings. The lodge is intended for quiet, peaceful getaways.

7. Off-the-Grid Lifestyle
The lodge runs entirely on solar power. Please help us conserve energy by limiting the use of high-wattage appliances (e.g., hairdryers, irons, electric kettles). A gas stove, solar-powered fridge, and ample lighting are provided for your comfort.

8. Wildlife & Safety
Puff adders and cobras occur naturally in the area, although sightings are rare. We recommend wearing closed shoes outdoors and staying on clear paths.
There is also an unfenced dam in front of the lodge; please be cautious.
If you encounter a snake during your stay, we can connect you with a local registered snake handler (a small call-out fee may apply).

9. Pet Policy
Well-behaved pets are welcome by prior arrangement.

Supervision is required at all times — the property is unfenced with open access to neighboring farms and wildlife

Pets may not be left alone at the lodge

Ensure your pet is flea- and tick-free before arrival

10. Leave It as You Found It
Please treat the space with care. Report any breakages or damage, even if accidental, and return used items to their original place before check-out.
