The hills covered by spekboom are spectacular! The house overlooks the lucerne fields which are irrigated by flooding as has probably been practised for a hundred years, very special. The house is clean with everything needed. The valleys are historically rich and a visit to Selma's museum is essential!

Delightful real African farm stay in a beautiful location. We were warmly greeted by our hosts, who went out of their way to make us welcome. The house is a real old farmhouse with off-the-grid appliances and comfortable rooms. We loved the porch where we sat under the stars and ate our dinner, enjoying the wonderful view and ambience. This ticked all our boxes! Be aware that refrigeration is not optimal, and hot water has to be stoked up with a donkey boiler to get a lovely hot shower.

Extremely relaxing and rejuvenating. The views from Huis Oppie Rant are stunning, and it is super quiet and peaceful. The cottage is completely off-grid, so you can really switch off, but the main farmhouse (a short walk away) does have WiFi if you really feel the need for connectivity . There are many nice day hikes in the area, and in summer you can even swim in the river. We will definitely be back.

A wonderful break from the world. We stayed at Cloete House (built 1876), which is like stepping into the past with the paraffin lamps, outside and indoor fireplaces, and slow pace of life. Surrounded by flowering aloes and mountains, we had a peaceful and very happy stay. Loved the preservation of the long family history at their farm museum in the old post office. Next time I'll take enough wood so I don't have to leave to go anywhere!

Quiet, pretty. Lovely overnight spot for us to stay as a family on route to De Rust!
