Description

The Shoe Guest House is owned by The Shoe Ministries, a non-profit organisation which uses the guest house to obtain money for their goal, to preach the Gospel to all nations. It provides basic accommodation on a fenced farm in the middle of the bushveld and is home to 'The Shoe', a 12-metre long shoe that doubles as a museum and a gallery.

This establishment runs on 80% solar power and comprises 8 separate chalets, 4 of which are back-to-back under one roof. This used to be a large farmhouse which was separated into 4 chalets. These chalets are all equipped for self-catering and are large and spacious, making it ideal for big groups. The other 4 stone-built chalets are built against the foot of the mountain, 2 of which are private, detached, self-catering units and 2 of which are only suites. Amenities include a bathroom, bar fridge and tea- and coffee-making facilities.

Each unit has 1 DSTV channel and an OVHD decoder, fans, and private braai areas. All kitchens are fully equipped with cutlery, stoves, and microwaves. Bedding is provided as well as towels, however, it must be asked for. An open-air, cold water swimming pool en pool table are available to guests.

The Shoe Guest House is in the process of going 'green' and because of the solar power, no electric heaters will be supplied or allowed in our units. If you are staying in a stone-built unit, 1 bag of free firewood will be provided for you to burn in the indoor fireplace. Any additional bags of wood can be purchased from the Kiosk. All beds are also provided with hot water bottles. Please keep this in mind before booking for this may be a problem to some guests. Hot water is made with a wood-fired donkey and all chalets are fitted with gas stoves for heating water and cooking.

Furthermore, the Tea Garden is open to guests between 9:00 and 17:00. Light meals and breakfasts are served all day. Dinner can be arranged on request.
