A wonderful break from the city in a tranquil, beautiful setting! Our experience at Waterwheel was fantastic. The facilities, activities etc. are as advertised. Communication from the host was very good. We used the Retreat as a base from which to explore the Haenertsburg, Magoebaskloof area and it was perfectly situated for this purpose. We went in an especially cold time of the year and the only suggestion that I would have is to provide more heating in the rooms. Due to the Retreat being powered by solar, I can understand that heaters would not be a viable option, but perhaps some extra warm blankets could be at hand. I'm sure the hosts would have provided this if we had asked, which we did not. Nubi, the Border Collie, was a major hit with the children and adults alike. The children were in tears when we had to leave, which did warn us about. The walk up the Groot Letaba River was a real treat.

Comfortable, peaceful, delicious! Blissful in the mountains with the river flowing in the background. It was truly a pleasant weekend at Waterwheel Country Retreat and would definitely recommend again. Ian is an incredible host. He assisted us where needed, I had vehicle problems. Great!

One of the nicest experiences we have ever had and we can't wait to go back! This place was such an experience! Everything from comfortable units, the friendliest of hosts and the cutest dog who takes you on walks to the waterfall! It was such an incredible stay!

Lovely place, worthy of a second visit! We enjoyed the tranquility of the area. Ian is a great host, focused on details from additional braai wood to a fantastic loan torch to look for owls at night. Unforgettable experience! It was an awesome weekend. The owners are very hospitable and friendly and are helpful in all respects. The place itself is incredibly beautiful! The children enjoyed nature just as much with the 2 beautiful dogs, who walked and played together everywhere. Unfortunately, children couldn't swim in the river or pool, the weather didn't really allow it. I had my 60th family photo shoot there and can't wait for the photos!
