Gateside Guesthouse is situated in a peaceful cul-de-sac and set on a hill with a wonderful view across the dam & pastures.
We are centrally located for convenient access from the N3 highway, (2kms.)
You will find we are only 10 km from Pietermaritzburg's city centre and a 15-minute drive to Howick and local shops, businesses, restaurants & gyms are all within 1km of us.
If it's a leisure trip, we offer a great midway stopover point enroute to the Drakensberg mountains or the KwaZulu-Natal beaches & wildlife reserves. Bring your bike or trail shoes along to break the journey & get out into that fresh country air! Fishing spots abound on the Midlands Meander alongwith arts & crafts & lots of family fun to be found along the different routes.
Don't forget the number of sporting events hosted in close proximity: Midmar Mile, Comrades, KZN trailrunning, Duzi & Amashovashova road cycling. There's something for everyone!
If you are with us for business, remember we can arrange bookings for our meeting room or small conferences.

Accommodation comprises 9 units, suited to accommodate up to 29 guests in total. Rooms vary from 2-sleepers up to 6-sleepers, all are different so we are sure you'll find what suits. All come equipped with comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms, WiFi over fibre, DStv or Netflix, wallfans or prepaid air-con, either fireplaces or panel heaters, hairdryers, ironing facility + laundry service available.
Although 8 of our 9 rooms/units offer self-catering as they come with kitchenettes, you are welcome to book a range of breakfast options, packed lunches, dinner trays & conferencing catering.

On-site facilities include on-site parking with remote access, a spacious garden with large swimming pool, BBQs and a comfortable covered deck where you can enjoy the stunning view.

Gateside is home-from-home for a lot of families visiting their children: Hilton, St Annes, Grace, Etham Colleges as well as Cowan House primary & Laddsworth.

Hospital visitors to Hilton Life Hospital only have to travel 2kms.
