Extraordinary location, magnificent nature, somewhat shabby, noisy house. The location is exceptional, the house however is in need of maintenance and care. All taps leak and spill water out of the side, the fridge is wobbly and stands at such an angle that you can't let go of the door. It is tiny with no space to stand a 1l milk, juice, or water bottle, the freezer needs de-icing and only freezes ice cubes that stand directly on the floor. The double bed has a nice hard mattress, but smells mouldy, in spite of clean fresh linen. The entire toilet tilts to the side when you sit on it and the seat has seen better days. Sitting on the veranda, the view is gorgeous, but I wish I had been warned about the milkwood bushes surrounding it and emitting a foul stench whilst flowering (which it was during our stay) and the very busy N2 right on the other side of the river providing constant engine noise all the time and flickering headlights shining into the house all night, as well as the fact that the beach is very busy all day. The free-of-charge canoes right on your doorstep were very welcome and much used, even if the slippery rocks and non-existent jetty made it a bit of a challenge.

It's a wonderful getaway for the adventurous! We had a wonderful stay, the view is breathtaking, very private and quiet. I would not recommend the stairs up to the place for older people or for people with small children. The stairs are steep with no railing which makes it dangerous to fall. The cars parked on the opposite side, you take the risk that something may be damaged on your car. In our case they stole our car's badge from our rim, but that's not the owner's fault.
