Description
Karoo Ridge Eco-lodges are situated in Karoo Ridge Conservancy, 58 km from Middelburg in the Eastern Cape. The lodges are situated on a 10 000-hectare working farm with Nguni and Stormberger cattle alongside game.
The River Lodge is set in a tranquil valley with breathtaking scenery and is simply and tastefully furnished. The lodge has been built from recycled materials and comprises 4 bedrooms. The front two bedrooms are furnished with king-size beds and have full en-suite bathrooms. The other two rooms have two three-quarter beds sharing a full bathroom fitted with a bath, shower, washbasin and toilet. Each bedroom opens out onto the central, open-plan living area with a large dining room table and comfortable couches looking out over the vast verandah.
The Mountain Lodge is situated in the foothills of the Mountains with wide open vistas. The Main bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed and the second bedroom has 2 three-quarter beds, both with full en-suite bathrooms fitted with bath, shower, washbasin and toilet. Stacker doors open up from the open-plan living area to a spacious verandah with floating chairs and sunbeds.
Lodges have well-equipped kitchens with a gas fridge, oven and stove. Guests can be catered for on request, although this must be organized before arrival. Both lodges have spacious verandahs with daybeds and floating chairs that look out over plunge pools, braai facilities and a boma. The River Lodge is better suited to families with young children and has a hammock, trampoline, sand pit and toy box.
Guests can enjoy self-guided walking trails, runs, drives and can bring their mountain bikes and explore the conservancy at their leisure.
