We will definitely come again! We couldn't have asked for a better weekend. The first cold rainy winter weekend of 2025. The fireplace was the winner for the weekend. It drew fantastically, didn't smoke anything, made the whole place, upstairs and downstairs, nice and warm. We were surprised at how warm the thatched roof and wooden house were. Sunday morning we woke up to snow on the mountains around us. We saw the most beautiful waterfalls from our cottage all weekend and watched as the dam rose non-stop, according to our calculations by 2 meters from Friday to Sunday. The cottage was super clean, no bugs or dust, the furniture and finishing inside were of good quality and neat. Nice Bosch gas stove, 4x4 fridge/freezer did the trick (maybe a bit small for 6 adults?). The complimentary soaps were heavenly!

Heaven on earth. Kliphout was the best choice out of the 3 cottages. I have stayed at the other two, but Kliphout's location breaks the wind which then allows for a lovely stroll on the stoep. The view of the mountains and valley from there is uninterrupted. It is a special feeling to be able to stay at the foot of such majestic mountains and the most beautiful fynbos. The level of the dam did not detract from our time there. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Slanghoek Mountain Resort who always go out of their way to accommodate their guests. We can't wait for our next visit.

An absolute gem of a long weekend! Baking in the sun, while floating on the lake, staring up at those Jurassic-like mountains felt like absolute heaven! Catching fish from the comfort of the cabin deck was also awesome! Stargazing at night and the total peace and quiet, what more could we ask for? We had an amazing stay at the cabins and will most certainly be back!

Breathtaking nature, cozy linens, minor fixes needed, overall stunning stay. Magical place! Surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. We especially loved the quality linen—particularly the top sheet, which was a standout. A few suggestions to help maintain the property: some kitchen cabinet handles are coming loose, the toilet paper holder needs fixing, sofa cushions could use refilling, and the shower could benefit from a little TLC. Stunning, but room for improvement. We had a great stay, a much-needed escape from the city. The accommodation itself is really nice with comfortable beds and couches, and a great little indoor fireplace. The dam, however, was very low (3m out of 12m) and I understand that it is the end of summer, but it was a little disappointing to be on the edge of a pit with some water at the bottom, which also acts as an echo chamber so you can clearly hear the conversations of the other cabins. Also, I am an avid fisherman and the dam could use a restock on bass and carp if they want to advertise the fishing. We also did the hike up to the waterfall. Very physically demanding, but a nice hike. The trail is in much need of maintenance though. It's very easy to get lost and quite a bit of bushwhacking was needed; the recent storm might have affected things. We would love to return, hopefully with a fuller dam.

Peaceful, tranquil, safe. It was disappointing that the lake was empty, otherwise it was a really beautiful location. The hot water in the shower took a few days to work properly, and we couldn't get the oven to switch on. Other than that, it was a really great weekend. Will definitely recommend.
