Beautiful. Isolated. Authentic. I'll come again! Our hostess was there to meet us and show us around her historical cottage. A spectacular entrance of more than twenty kilometres of lovely smooth dirt road led to the pretty cottage. I could have stayed a week. It has a fireplace in the kitchen area which we enjoyed. The kids loved the decor, and we loved the historical photos in the books. We felt very, very happy in this cottage. This is why travelling in South Africa is such fun, discovering gems like this. I can highly recommend this cottage. We came away with a selection of preserves.

Unforgettable, peaceful getaway. Rhenostervalley is a beautiful, authentic Karoo house with a rich history that is even captured in a book – wonderful to read during our stay. The house is stylish and fully equipped – you really don't need anything. Everything is neat, clean and homely; it feels like a beloved family home with character and warmth. It was special to be without cellphones and internet for a while – the silence and simplicity of farm life brings one to rest. We had a lovely walk and had a peaceful picnic along the stream further down in the kloof. The lapa and indoor braai are ideal for social gatherings. Auntie also offered a nice variety of pickled products that we could buy – all deliciously homemade. It is a gravel road to the farm, but I made it easily with my Polo Vivo. The drive from the observatory to Rhenostervalley is absolutely breathtaking – we stopped several times to take photos of the landscape. A real piece of Karoo peace and inspiration.

Awesome. Mrs Olivier sent through directions and voice messages for directions well in advance. We were warmly greeted and shown around the house. Everything was neat and clean. Beautiful setting and given a short history of the home and farm. It was too cold to sit outside and look at the stars but will for sure go back again. One of the best stays to date.

Awesomeness at its best! We truly enjoyed our stay. Our hosts were gracious and there was nothing that we felt was missing. Everything you could possibly need was there, including breathtaking mornings and superb stargazing around the Lapa bonfire. Access is on a maintained gravel road, although it can be quite rough in some spots for a normal car and there are water crossings to take into account. We took double the GPS time (3 hrs as opposed to 1.5 hrs from the main road) to get to the guest lodge and double time out again as we had to go slow using a normal car.
