See above. From the moment we confirmed our booking and connected with our host, we were impressed by her warm and professional approach. Her communication was prompt and detailed, and thanks to the link and GPS coordinates she provided, we arrived without any hassle—just 7 km of well-maintained gravel road from the R71. The host also regularly checked in and gave some good information about what and where to do, which made our stay so special. We had arranged to arrive a little earlier, and from the moment we set foot on the property, we were captivated. The location is truly scenic, nestled on a working farm, with the accommodation being a beautifully renovated old dairy. Everything was neat and thoughtfully arranged. The space comfortably accommodated three adults, featuring a well-equipped kitchen, a private bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, and a spacious open-plan living area that included a sitting and dining area, kitchen, and a single bed. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the farm and walking through the nearby Woodbush Forest Reserve. Fly fishing at the lake on the property was a highlight, and the peaceful atmosphere—complete with horses wandering by and workers tending to the avocado orchards—made it easy to relax and unwind. One morning, we ventured out early to Forest Drive, about 5 km from the farm, and were treated to an unforgettable dawn chorus while sipping coffee and nibbling on rusks. The crisp air, dewdrops on the plants, and the moss-covered trees and hanging ferns created perfect conditions for stunning photographs. Birding was exceptional. We were fortunate to spot several rare species, including the Narina Trogon, Cape Parrot, Orange Ground-Thrush, Blue-mantled Crested Flycatcher, and the majestic Crowned Eagle. On our final evening, we enjoyed a sundowner by the lake, savoring a chilled complimentary bottle of white wine as the sun dipped below the horizon, accompanied by the lively sounds of birds and wildlife. The next morning, while packing up, we were treated to the sight of 20 Cape Parrots perched in the tree right outside our cottage. We’re already planning our return!

Peaceful and beautiful. This is the perfect place to switch off and relax, beautiful view from the house. You can take nice walks on the farm, very pet friendly.

Absolutely relaxing, thank you for a great place to stay! Super friendly host and staff. Everything you need is there. Comfortable bed and facilities. Dog friendly made it a fabulous few days. Be prepared for roads in the rain - the road will need a 4x4. Bring dry wood.

Perfect Magoebaskloof stay for a couple that also love their privacy. Our stay at The Old Dairy was beautiful, quiet and just what we wanted. Clean, spacious and so remote, no one around except horses, the odd duiker and the mountains. A fair amount of dirt roads, but our SUV handled perfectly (it was dry so maybe check if it's going to rain might be a different story). We were there for a wedding at the Kwakala Brewery which was a 15-minute drive away (also on the dirt road), which was nice and close. Stick to the main dirt roads as Google Maps tend to want you to use alternative routes, which don't always end up where you want to go. We had some power outages but there were candles for light and gas for coffee, so it wasn't an issue for us. There were also many attractions all in very close proximity (including the largest planted tree in the world!) that made our weekend a perfect getaway!

Peaceful escape set in a farm environment with very friendly, welcoming hosts. We enjoyed the farm setting, the opportunities to walk and that the venue is dog-friendly. It had all the amenities one could ask for with a fully equipped load-shedding friendly kitchen and a perfect outdoor space with an enclosed yard and wonderful lawn for the dogs to run and play. We loved that it was situated outside of the nearest town and that we could access Woodbush indigenous forest as well as Dap Naude Dam by car from the site.
