Relaxing, accessible, very private. The garden sloping down to the river was an absolute joy! We loved Barrydale and loved staying with the host and her friendly dogs. The room is very neat and practical. We will definitely stay there again! There are several options to explore if guests need to stay longer.

Nice little cottage for a short stay. The cottage is very small, but situated in a lovely tranquil garden with lots of birds. Barrydale itself is a lovely little Klein Karoo town with great restaurants and a sweet small town vibe. Saturday morning there was a nice market within walking distance from the cottage. The separate kitchenette is tiny but adequate for a weekend away. A few things could be improved: some lighting on the little balcony and outside at the braai area would be nice. The host only allows the hot water to be switched on 45 minutes before showering, but it does not really heat up to temperature in that time. When I left it on and popped out to get a coffee, so I could shower when I got back, the host switched it off. The hot water is also not plumbed into the kitchen. Be warned that there are lots of hungry mosquitoes around due to standing water - the host did provide a room spray and mosquito net.
