Open Water Midmar Mile
Description
The Midmar Mile is the world’s largest open-water swim, held annually over a weekend in February at Midmar Dam near Howick, KwaZulu-Natal. Covering approximately 1 mile (1.6?km), the event cascades thousands of swimmers—ranging from elite athletes to recreational participants—into the water in staggered starts across eight group waves, creating a lively and inclusive celebration of sport, community, and tradition.
