Description

The Royal Reed Dance, known as uMkhosi woMhlanga, is an annual Zulu ceremony held in early September at the eNyokeni Royal Palace in KwaNongoma, South Africa. It's a significant cultural event where thousands of Zulu maidens gather to celebrate their virginity and womanhood. The ceremony involves the maidens presenting reeds to the King in a colourful display of heritage and unity.
