The Carriage House at 'Shades' is a tranquil Karoo retreat which is ideal for small groups or families travelling with children. The Garden Terrace Room offers a comfortable twin or king en-suite bedroom with private veranda. The room has private access to the main lounge and dining room area of the Carriage House and offers views and has direct access to a large fenced private pool and gardens. The room is artistically decorated, original works of art by local artists are displayed, beds provided are especially selected for ultimate comfort and a goods nights rest.

We are completely off-grid and solar-powered, so please be mindful of electricity usage.

Avoid running multiple high-power devices at once.

Turn off lights, fans, and heaters when not in use.

Water is precious in the Klein Karoo — please use it sparingly.

Limit shower times.

Do not leave taps running unnecessarily.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Rooms are serviced daily. Please communicate if you prefer privacy or a specific cleaning time.

Towels are replaced on request to help conserve water.

The Olive Grove room is spacious, artistically decorated with hand picked artifacts, offering a luxury air-conditioned, twin or king en-suite apartment with inter-leading private lounge, TV room and veranda, allowing access to the a private wooden sun-deck, 20 meter lap pool and Pilates gym and the main lounge and dining room area of the Manor House. The suites are equipped with satellite TV, data-link and Wi-Fi.
