"I was disappointed in the tour at the observatory. It was very short and the guide did not give much interesting information about the SALT. I went 10 years ago and the guide had much more information to share about the SALT. I found the new planetarium was a wonderful experience. Unfortunately the video they showed was boring (Google Xprise). I was hoping to see a video about the stars/planets but they showed mostly trailers of lots of different movies. Town itself is typical small town vibe and I loved how peaceful it was."

"A quaint little town surrounded by scenic nature, enjoyable even in the -1ºC cold of July. Experienced a bit of snow on Swartberg Pass for the first time. Definitely a great place to explore if you enjoy a slower pace and exploring nature on foot, mountain bike or motorbike."
"Die Sterrekyk by Jurg Wagenaar en besoek aan die sterrewag en Louw huis was werklik ‘n belewenis. Dis jammer, maar duidelik soos in so baie kleiner plattelandse dorpe, dat owerhede die waarde van onderhoud en verfraaiing onderskat. Vergeleke met, bv. Merweville en Prins Albert kom die dorp self verwaarloos voor en dis jammer, want Sutherland is die moeite werd om te besoek. "

"We loved the natural beauty, the journey there, the stars, the stargazing experience at Sterland (highly recommended), and the accommodation at Primrose Cottage. However, trying to see the NP Van Wyk Louw house and the church turned out impossible (we had a phone put down in our ears at one point). Also, the restaurants are somewhat overpriced and wishy-washy in their hours. Be prepared for a real small-town, afternoon nap attitude to tourism."
